Free Games Online and Save Money

Whether you enjoy action or arcade games or mind and strategy games, it’s always nice to find free games that you can play online. So many times I’ve tried to find something simple and fun to pass some time only to be led to free trials and sites that want me to install their software… there seems to always be a catch. However, if you look long enough you will find that there are many free games websites out there that offer a wide variety of games to choose from.

Maybe you have a break at work and want to get out of “work mode” for a few minutes. Free games websites are a wonderful way to do just that. Just visit the site, pick a game that interests you and enjoy a few minutes of down time. If you have kids at home who are bouncing off the walls because the weather outside isn’t favorable for outdoor play, then free games websites are a terrific pastime for them and it doesn’t cost you anything.

You can find games of all genres and for all ages. You can play a digital version of the traditional Connect Four game, play mini- Mario games, shoot ’em up in first person shooter games, or challenge your mind with strategy games. It’s easy to get lost in these games and not realize how many hours have passed since you landed on the games website, too.

If you don’t like the idea of downloading games, then free games websites are just what you need. Many people don’t like to download because of the threat of viruses and other harmful effects that are possible. Some people just don’t want to bog down their hard drive anymore than it already is and some simply don’t have computers that are built to handle a lot of gaming. Whatever the reason, playing games online is almost always a smart choice that gives you hours of enjoyment.

You can easily find games that are suitable for your little ones, but you’ll probably also find some free games that you like. Don’t be surprised if you end up addicted to them and returning day after day. That’s just the way it goes and is very common. Save your money for the holidays coming up and still be able to have fun with free games that you can conveniently play online.

Classic Arcade Games

The new millennium is the millennia of PC games. But before PCs became a household phenomenon, the only games of its kind that kids knew, and a whole generation of Americans have grown up playing, were arcade games.

Arcade games consist of a simple, yet bulky machine, with a colorful screen, and some sticks or buttons to play with, and a device to put coins in, which allows the game to be played for a particular period of time.

Today, you can find arcade games that run on computers, using emulators. But before that had happened, arcade games were typically found, apart from the especial entertainment centres and video arcades, in restaurants, malls and movie halls. Kids and grown ups alike played mainly three types of arcade games: the famed pinball, video games or redemption games.

Yet, the ancestry of arcade games could be traced to the hugely popular games commonly known as the “amusement park midway games” like ball toss game and shooting galleries which were popular at the beginning of the 20th century.

The 1930s saw the first coin-operated pinball machines. Though being made of wood with all functions mechanical rather than electronic and being a far cry from the electronic ones that were to come much later, they were still quite a hit. The late seventies would see these mechanical pinballs being replaced by electronic games.

The change in fortunes of arcade games happened with the formation of a company called Atari in 1972. This company created the coin-operated machines, beginning with the electronic ping pong game, called Pong. Pong was a huge hit, and led to even more home video game systems being introduced onto the market.

Many games like Pac-Man, Donkey Kong and Space Invaders became huge hits in the late seventies and early eighties, paving the way to a revolution. The last breath to the arcade games was provided by the emergence of two player fighting games like Street Fighter II , Mortal Kombat¸ Fatal Fury, King of fighters etc in the early 90s. However, this was not to redeem the fate of arcade games completely, as the growth in computers and video technology saw the emergence of new type of games, including PC games and games that ran on special consoles such as the Playstation, Game Boy and the X-box pushing arcade games into the sidelines, to almost the end of their existence.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops Won Many Gaming

One of the hottest titles in the gaming industry, the latest in the Call of Duty series by Activision, Call of Duty: Black Ops, sold over 7 million units within 24 hours of the November 2010 release. As of December, the game has already grossed over $1 billion in worldwide sales.

Call of Duty: Black Ops is a first person shooter for the Xbox 360 as well as other platforms including the Wii and PlayStation 3. It is the first of the Call of Duty games to be set during the 1960s, when the Cold War was at its height. The single-player campaign allows players to play as Alex Mason, a foot soldier who is being interrogated for information. As the campaign proceeds, you play as different characters including CIA agent Jason Hudson. In a break from the first-person shooter gameplay, you can also pilot a Hind helecopter and SR-71 Blackbird at various points. Prominent actors provide the voices for the various characters, including Sam Worthington as Mason, Ed Harris as Hudson and Gary Oldman as Victor Reznov, a character who returns from the earlier CoD: World at War game. The campaign game also includes cut scenes that features archival footage from the period, as well as a soundtrack that includes classic Vietnam War-era songs including the Rolling Stones’ Sympathy for the Devil and Creedence Clearwater Revival’s Fortunate Son.

For the multiplayer game, Black Ops allows teams to compete in completing various missions, such as Capture the Flag, in which your objective is to be the first to take the opposing team’s flag back to base and Domination, in which squads capture and hold three areas on a map. One of the major new features in the game is the inclusion of COD points that you earn which allow you to buy weapons and accessories as well as customization options. And there is a Theater Mode that allows you to record clips from online gameplay and upload them online, as well as a Combat Training mode that allows those new to multiplayer gaming and those who would like to try out new tactics and weapons to play online against AI opponents with a separate ranking and unlocking system. Xbox 360 players are allowed a second Gold Xbox Live account to keep track of the second player’s progression through the game.

Arcade Game Downloads

The golden days of arcade games came to a close with the growth in PC and home gaming systems. Computer games not only provided better visual and sound effects, but also gave a personalized touch to the games, along with the privacy of playing it anywhere anytime without having to go to an arcade and insert a coin. The popularity of such games saw a drastic decline in people going to play arcade games in the places where they were installed.

However, with the growth of PC technology, arcade games were reborn in a new form. These were computer games, but they maintained the look, feel and sound of the old arcade games. These games became popular and began to be downloaded by users all around the world.

The basic version of the pinball game is available today along with the Windows operating system software. Today, you’ll find you can download a lot of these games and play them on your own computer systems. Over the years these games have undergone a drastic change, with new features being added in to the same old games, thus increasing the satisfaction level of the players. 3D versions of these arcade games have also become popular.

There are many Web sites that allow you to download free arcade games on the computer. Some of these Web sites include arcade-game-download.com, astatix.com, arcadenut.com and arcadetown.com. Several of these sites charge a monthly minimum charge to allow users to download their games. It helps them develop new games and release new versions.

A lot of these games are advancements or rip offs from the original arcade game. Most of them employ good special effects and ensure the satisfaction level for players. It’s a good deal to download these arcade games, both for the nostalgic factor as well as the effects and the satisfaction that these games give their users.

Best Android Games

Sometimes, you get only what you pay for in the sense that you get some good games for money. You can find several fantastic games on Android, but you have to spend a little money and you can enjoy a few games on your mobile phone. You can simply download some of the best Android games and start playing them. Here are some of the best Android games of 2015.

Threes!

A simply ingenious game that is easy to play, but that is difficult to master, Threes has a four by four grid and a number of sliding tiles for the tools that you would be using to play the game. Each of these numbered tiles can be combined only with another type of tile. At this point, it becomes a single tile and their values add up to its constituents. The primary idea behind the game is to keep playing it. The sound effects, music, etc. are merely the icing on the cake.

Monument Valley

There are many debates on whether Android games can be artistic and Monument Valley checks the “art” box. It is a delicate and a beautiful arcade adventure game that features the attempts of a beautiful princess to explore monuments. Monument Valley has been crafted carefully, thoughtfully, and the experience throughout is reflective. The architecture moves as you drag and spin the components.

Drop7

Every now and then, a puzzle game appears that would not simply let you go of it. You would work with puzzles in this game, even though you would need to drop discs and should the number of any disc not match with the disc count in its column or row, it would explode. If you want the face number revealed, then you should make the gray blocks have two adjacent explosions. It is one of the best Android puzzles around.

Angry birds – Star Wars II

Here is something for ardent gamers of Angry Birds. The sequel to Angry Birds – Star Wars I improves on the design ideas of the game. The sequel to the game comes with character packs and level branching that allow you to swap and try out different strategies. This game is a perfect match for the fans of Darth Maul. If you thought that the titular birds were way too angry, then you have the opportunity to get revenge on them right now with this Android game.

Conventional arcade games are coin operated, activated by dropping coins in the game console slot. Arcade and flash game centers abound in plenty, travel around the country or globally and you are sure to find them clustered around shopping centers and recreational parks.

The internet has opened a whole new frontier to the world of arcade games, enabling accessibility to millions around the country and convenience of use; that means you no longer have to leave the comfort of your home to enjoy the game. Though there is a plethora of modification and feature add-ons to the sweet old game, majority are still similar to the arcade games available in your home gaming system so you won’t be lost.

There are also plenty of new arcade games that are not available in your gaming system at home. Some of the novel features you are sure to encounter in the new arcade games is the addition of mouse and keyboard as control tools, this could be strange in the beginning but with time, you’ll definitely become accustomed to them. Some of the game categories, you’ll find in the new arcade games are as follows:

o Side scrolling games.

o Memory games.

o NES games.

o Racing games.

o Casino games.

o Flying games.

o Classic Games.

o Action games.

o Shooting games e.t.c.

Some of these games come free while others require a subscription plan. An example of arcade game that requires subscription plan in order to download and play is the action game – Cocoon Island. The Advantage of download-based arcade games is that you don’t actually need to be online to enjoy the fun. They are also convenient than purchasing a game disk.

Addictive Android Games

One of the most popular reasons why people buy smartphones is because of mobile gaming. When you feel bored and you want to do something that will divert your attention, your smartphone becomes a mobile gaming device automatically. While some games are actually good, some aren’t exactly as fun as you expect them to be, so in any case, it’s time to do some researching for the best Android games ever made. And since I’m your Techno Babe, I did some research and found the top five most addictive Android games in the market today.

Different people have different tastes though, but the games I played are so simple that both kids and adults will surely enjoy playing these games without too much fuss or complaints. Some of these games come for free while others can be downloaded for a small price. Choose which ones you like!

1. Apparatus

Apparatus is a simple game that lets you build machines from sticks, batteries and circuits. The game’s motto is “Build a complex machine to perform a simple task.” Build bulldozers, cranes and other machines to make a path for one or several marbles. It’s simple, yet fun and addictive. A definite must-have for anyone who has an Android smartphone.

What makes the game even more addictive is when you fail the first time and realize that it was all because you did not attach the right parts on the machine. I got frustrated when I failed each stage but I got addicted since the mistakes I made were really simple!

2. Drop 7

Zynga, the makers of many popular Facebook games, takes on Android games as well. Drop 7 is a combination of many puzzle games and Tetris, thus giving mobile owners hours and hours of puzzle-solving fun! And since Zynga makes these games, you can play against your friends online.

I guess out of a number of disappointing games, Zynga finally makes a success with this mobile app.

3. Grow

The game’s pretty much like Feeding Frenzy, except that in Feeding Frenzy, you’re in an ocean full of fish and other creatures. Grow pits you against other fishes inside a small aquarium. This means you really have to use your secret moves and evasive manuevers in order to make your littly fry grow in order to compete with the other big fishes in the sea… er, I mean, aquarium.

4. Solipskier

We all know the deal with ski games, but with Solipskier, it’s a whole different story. This time, you build (actually paint) the path for the skier, but make sure that the path is safe enough for him to survive! Build a path high enough for your skier to fall down and break his head and you lose the game! While the concept is quite old, what I love about the game is its music, which consists of cool guitar solos!

5. Fruit Ninja

You know those slice and dice games on the Iphone? They’re available on the Android now and one of them is the super popular Fruit Ninja. Polish you knife-carving skills as the game throws several fruits in the air for you to slice! The game is quite addictive and is indeed worth the download!

Well, these are the top five Android games that’s hot, hot hot in the Android market! Whether these applications are for sale or not, you can simply check them out in the Internet. Fruit Ninja, for example, is actually for free but for a small price, you can get a few power-ups and cool freebies that make the game even more interesting. Even so, it’s really up to you if you want to get more out of the game!

History of the Video Game

In 2003, the Spike TV Video Game Awards (or VGAs) became the first of such honors to focus on honoring recognition of excellence within the growing computer and video game industries. Each year, the best of the games are rewarded, interspersed with live musical performances, film and television celebrity appearances, and preview trailers for soon-to-release video games. The awards ceremony has taken place in various locations in Los Angeles, Santa Monica, and Las Vegas, and has been hosted by Samuel L. Jackson on multiple occasions. In 2009, for the first time, the awards show did not have any host at all. Musical performers have included Snoop Dogg and The Bravery, and celebrity guests in the past have included Jack Black, the cast of MTV’s Jersey Shore, Green Bay, and Stevie Wonder.

Among the shows honors are categories featuring the coveted Game of the Year, along with best of honors for hottest video action and adventure, innovative graphics, and technology. Categories include separate honors for best Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, and PC games; separate honors for best handheld, shooter, action adventure, RPG, multiplayer, fighting, individual sports, team sports, driving, and music games; Game of the Year; Studio of the Year; Best Soundtrack, Best Original Score, Best Graphics, Best Game Based On a Movie/TV Show, Best Performance By a Human Male/Female, Best Cast, Best Voice, Best Downloadable Game, Best DLC, and Most Anticipated Game.

Critics of the awards disapprove of its selection processes for determining both nominees and winners, which they are concerned reflect bias toward specific products and platforms, with video console games being more likely to come out as winners of the crystal awards over PC games. Since winners are determined by online polls, critics accuse the program of awarding popularity only, rather than true advancement or innovation in the grand scheme of the industry. Additionally, concerns arise from the show’s tendency to misappropriate awards or refer to games incorrectly. For instance, during the first Video Game Awards show, Halo won an award in the category of best shooter even though it should have been deemed ineligible, since it was technically a two year old game by then.
